INTRODUCTION

The computing society of the university is a community of students who share a passion for technology and computing. The society aims to promote innovation, collaboration, and knowledge-sharing among its members. The purpose of this document is to provide a detailed overview of the computing society of the university, including its history, goals, activities, and impact on its members.

BACKGROUND

Department of Computer Science has established the Computing Society for Computer Sciences students for the first time to invest in the local IT concept and ideas in computer sciences. The UCS started as a small group of students who would meet informally to discuss the latest trends in computing. Mr Jawad Usman, the Head of the Department, Mr Wazir Afrasiyab, Mr Imtiaz Ahmed, and Ms. Noreen Maryam faculty members, considered forming an official society.
UCS was established in late 2022, and over 50 students were interviewed for the designations. Following interviews, the department has formed a team that will oversee the society for six or twelve months. The society has grown significantly over the year, and it now has many active members who participate in various activities and events throughout the year.

OUR VISION:

The UCS is an idea exploring IT society and works for the IT students by computer science students at the University of Baltistan, Skardu. It aims to provide multiple impending opportunities and exposures to young students. Our vision is to bring novel computing ideas into action as per the advancement of the era.

OUR GOAL:

The primary goal of the UCS is to create a community of students. The society aims to provide a platform where students can learn new skills, collaborate on projects, get exposure and share their ideas. The society also aims to promote the advancement of computing technologies and knowledge through events, workshops, seminars and talks.
The society's goals are aligned with the broader goals of the computing industry, which include developing innovative solutions to real-world problems, advancing the state of the art in computing technologies, and promoting the ethical and responsible use of computing technologies. Furthermore, UCS will also be involved in welfare and better environmental activities.
