Third Faculty Council Summit Convened at University of Baltistan, Skardu with Firm Determination and Strength of Optimism
(11th July, 2018) The Third Faculty Council Meeting was held at University of Baltistan, Skardu with great determination and strength of optimism for the challenging and competitive future. The meeting was arranged after the worthy Vice Chancellor’s official meeting with His Excellency the President Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Mamnoon Hussain at his office in Islamabad.
The Council was chaired by honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nameem Khan. The Registrar UOBS Dr. Irshad Ali, the Director Academics Dr. Zakir Hussain, the Controller Examinations Dr. Ghulam Raza, All Heads of the Departments UOBS, and faculty members attended the Faculty Council Meeting. The meeting was formally started with the recitation of some verses of the Holy Quran, honored by Mr. Qaiser Abbas lecturer department of Educational Development.
Addressing to the Faculty Council, the worthy Vice Chancellor talked on the future academic plans of the varsity comparing with the international varsities where he has been during his professional career in past. He also positively put his thought provoking ideas before the participants about the essential impacts of the university on socioeconomic arena, local institutions and other domains where the role of the university plays a pivotal role in the development, expansion and growth in terms of collaborative work. The worthy VC highlighted the emerging economic growth of the region with relations to the impact of CPEC in different fields where the varsity needs to strengthen its cooperation for the acceleration of possible outcomes in future. Talking on local cultural, industrial, and economic exertions, the VC said that UOBS will also play its role in a true sense so that different stakeholders could get prompt and required mutual cooperation. He added that the active academic role of the varsity cannot be ignored for constructive results. The VC tied firm affirmation that the university will reach to the national and international standard in every research and innovation in every domain of academia. He is quite positive about the utilization of the natural resources of the region for the betterment, improvement and growth of the local stakeholders with collaboration to the varsity.
In the end, Dr. Zakir Hussain Director Academics UOBS briefed on different agendas as secretary to the Faculty Council and presented some important documents for the approval of the Faculty Council. Dr. Haji Karim also briefed the council on his future contribution to research. He discussed the present and future status of colleges in terms of initiating BS programs. He pointed out the challenges that the college administration might face in future when the two years BA and MA programs are formally and permanently banned by HEC.
