The Directorate of Professional and Skill Development (DPSD), University of Baltistan, Skardu (UoBS), concluded a two-day capacity-building training program for faculty members of its affiliated colleges from Gilgit-Baltistan.
The program was designed to strengthen faculty competencies in contemporary pedagogical and assessment methodologies, integration of Artificial Intelligence in teaching and learning, implementation of the HEC Undergraduate Education Policy and Quality Assurance Framework, and adoption of innovative practices aligned with international academic standards.
The training commenced on August 17, 2026, with an inaugural ceremony. Dr. Haji Karim Khan, Director DPSD, welcomed the participants and presented the vision of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Masood Akhtar, on continuous professional development for the university and its affiliated institutions.
In his message, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Masood Akhtar, reaffirmed that affiliated colleges constitute an integral part of UoBS and reiterated the university’s commitment to collaborative academic growth.
On the first day, resource persons including Dr. Zakir Hussain, Dr. Farrukh Kamran, and Mr. Nasim Abbas conducted sessions on teaching and learning in higher education, assessment practices, and the application of ICT and LMS in assessment.
On the second day, Dr. Haji Karim Khan, Mr. Parchamdar Abbas, Dr. Attarad Ali, and Mr. Qaiser Abbas facilitated sessions on effective teaching, classroom management, AI in education, HEC policies, and course development.
The training concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony presided over by Dr. Shafqat Hussain, Director DASR. He emphasized the significance of continuous professional development in meeting evolving academic demands.
Ms. Rukhsana Batool, Assistant Professor, Degree College for Girls Skardu, speaking on behalf of the participants, appreciated the university leadership and recommended the regular organization of such programs.
The ceremony concluded with the distribution of certificates and acknowledgment of the facilitators.
