World Environment Day 5th June 2021

 Message from Vice Chancellor

The World Environment Day takes place every year on 5 June. It is the United Nations’ flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment. This year Pakistan will host the day in partnership with the UN Environment Program (UNEP). This year’s observance of World Environment Day will be on the theme of ‘ecosystem restoration’ and focus on resetting our relation with nature focusing 3 R’s:

Pakistan will host the World Environment Day and The Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan will head the global climate conference 2021. During the summit Pakistan would highlight the Billion Tree Tsunami project, Clean Green Pakistan project, national parks, green jobs, and other climate change initiatives taken by the incumbent government at the conference.

Being the custodian of the mountain communities in G.B, University of Baltistan Skardu (UOBS) for the 1st time organized the event through Directorate of External Linkages (EL) in 2020 keeping all SOPs, where honorable Vice Chancellor Endorsed opening of Environmental Sciences for advance research and development in the academic world. The superior of UoBS is determined to do its best for conservation of biodiversity and environmental health jointly with national and International organizations. The Directorate EL and Environmental Sciences Department at UOBS would engage activities by providing scientific resources and involving youth, scientists, local organizations as well as government organizations for the stewardship of each other and our relationship with the earth.

The Vice Chancellor of University of Baltistan, Skardu hopes that by celebrating the “World Environment Day 2021” will surely help to build momentum and unite the global as well as G.B community in actions for positive change to respect and protect biodiversity in the region.
