The signing ceremony of Master Planning and Designing of UOBS

The contract for Master Planning and Designing consultancy of the University of Baltistan, Skardu has been granted to EA Consulting Private Limited, Karachi. The signing ceremony was held at HEC Islamabad today where the Executive Director of HEC, Lieutenant General (r) Muhammad Asghar was the chief guest and registrar, University of Baltistan, Skardu (henceforth UOBS), Dr. Irshad Ali, and the consultant signed the Project Consultancy agreement. Moreover, the following distinguished guests of honor, Dr. Attaullah Shah, Vice-Chancellor, Karakoram International University, Gilgit, Mr. Awais Ahmed, Director General Meeting and Coordination HEC, Mr. Muhammad Shahid, Director Planning and Development, HEC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan, Vice-Chancellor UOBS, Mr. Rao Muhammad Sharif, Treasurer UOBS and Engineer Umar Mansoor, representative consultant, witnessed the ceremony.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Naeem Khan, Vice-Chancellor UOBS, briefed the audience about the project and communicated that the Federal Government approved an amount of 1747 million PLR in 2017 for the establishment of the University of Baltistan, Skardu. He further shed light on the history of UOBS and added that it was a Campus of Karakoram International University that was reconstituted as a full-fledged university. In this connection, HEC called for bids at the national level, following the PPRA rule to hire the best consultant for the construction of the University of Baltistan, Skardu, so, EA Consulting Private Limited, Karachi won the bit. He further highlighted the importance and the mandate of the university by explaining the opportunities of higher education to the locals at the doorsteps. The university will be constructed by incorporating the natural, historical, and cultural uniqueness of the region in its architecture and design by following the norms of the latest construction models. The university will provide a state of the art facilities to all stakeholders. The campus will encompass academic blocks, administrative blocks, faculty blocks, hostels for boys and girls, library, auditorium, and the like. Furthermore, it will be equipped with the latest and up-to-date equipment, research-related services, and sports facilities. The Vice-Chancellor stressed on the consultancy firm start working on the project right away and complete it in time so that the bid for construction of the campus is awarded to a contractor in the near future.
