The University of Baltistan, Skardu (UOBS) observed Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir with a commemorative programme to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and to reaffirm support for their internationally recognized right to self-determination.

The event was attended by members of the University's administration, faculty, staff, and students. Participants expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated their support for the peaceful pursuit of their fundamental rights. The programme also highlighted the importance of raising awareness of the humanitarian and human rights dimensions of the Kashmir issue.

In his message on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Masood Akhtar stated that organizing programmes on important national issues is part of the University's academic, civic, and moral responsibility.

"Universities have an important role in promoting informed dialogue, civic awareness, and responsible engagement with issues of national and international significance. We remain committed to providing platforms for constructive discussion and to expressing solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with Pakistan's principled position on their right to self-determination," he said.

Addressing the participants, Registrar Dr. Mir Alam emphasized the University's continued moral and diplomatic support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He called upon the international community to pay greater attention to reported human rights concerns and urged renewed efforts toward a peaceful and just resolution of the Kashmir dispute in accordance with relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Lecturer Aftab highlighted the role of young people and educational institutions in promoting awareness of global issues. He encouraged students to engage with international affairs through informed academic discourse, research, and responsible advocacy, emphasizing that universities serve as important forums for fostering critical thinking and civic responsibility.

The programme concluded with a collective call for the international community to support efforts aimed at ensuring that the people of Jammu and Kashmir are able to exercise their right to self-determination through peaceful means in accordance with relevant United Nations resolutions.

The University of Baltistan reaffirmed its commitment to promoting informed academic dialogue, civic responsibility, peace, and respect for human rights through educational activities and public engagement.
