Powers and Duties of the Senate

The Senate shall be the supreme governing body of the University and shall, subject to the provisions of the UoBS Order, 2016, exercise general supervision over the affairs and management of the University.

Take effective measures to raise the standard of teaching, research and publication

Hold control and administer the property and funds of the University

Govern and regulate the finances, accounts and investments of the University

Consider and pass the annual report, statements of accounts, and budget estimates

Enter into, vary, carry out and cancel contracts on behalf of the University

Approve Statutes and Regulations for the governance of the University

Institute academic and administrative posts, and appoint personnel

Confer Honorary Degrees and approve academic programs

Establish Faculties, Teaching Departments, Centers and Institutes

Determine the form and regulate the use of the Common Seal of the University

Provide buildings, libraries, equipment and other means required for University work

Establish and maintain halls of residence and hostels for students
