Introduction
The Office of Research, Innovation & Commercialization (ORIC) at the University of Baltistan, Skardu functions as the focal point for coordinating, strengthening, and promoting research and innovation activities across the university. Established in alignment with the guidelines of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan, ORIC is dedicated to institutionalizing research governance, enhancing research quality, and fostering an enabling environment for scholarly excellence.
ORIC provides strategic direction for research planning, grant acquisition, industry linkages, and intellectual property management. It facilitates collaboration among faculty, students, industry partners, and national and international organizations to ensure impactful and solution-oriented research. The office also monitors funded projects, ensures compliance with regulatory frameworks, and promotes ethical research practices.
By supporting innovation, entrepreneurship, and commercialization initiatives, ORIC aims to translate academic research into practical applications that contribute to socio-economic development, particularly within Gilgit-Baltistan and beyond. Through capacity building and strategic partnerships, ORIC strives to position the university as a leading research-driven institution in the region.
